According to The Daily Mail, the above image is Al Qaeda’s “terrifying vision of a devastated America.” It was apparently posted on an Islamic extremists’ Web site but nobody in the mainstream press has actually twigged that it’s videogame concept art from Fallout 3.

Believing them to be “computer-generated images,” this supposed terrorists’ wet dream has also hit an Australian news site. The Daily Mail, otherwise known as Britain’s favorite toilet paper, takes the prize though for this hilarious piece of writing:

U.S. analysts said a lot of effort had been put into the video – entitled Nuclear Jihad, The Ultimate Terror – with graphics, music, and clips of different leaders and groups.

The same expertise seems to have gone into creating this image of a devastated Washington.

Confirmed — Bethesda uses terrorist expertise in the creation of its artwork? Since The Mail has a long-running vendetta against videogames, I’m somewhat surprised they didn’t find out where the image came from — Videogames Cause Terrorism seems like a story that’s right up their alley. Gotta love journalists.
