Tears of the Kingdom‘s item list is long and lengthy, and you’ll need many materials to upgrade your armor. However, if you’re in need of rupees, or even said armor upgrade fodder, you’re going to have a hard time finding certain items with extremely low drop rates. Luckily, players have found a way to sidestep the grind, allowing them to duplicate items.

Find out the steps to pull off this glitch below. Keep in mind that Nintendo is always fixing glitches with every patch, so your mileage with this exploit may vary.

Current working item duplication glitch for Tears of the Kingdom 1.2.0

July 5th saw Nintendo’s latest update to Tears of the Kingdom. This removed a previous glitch for duplicating items. However, there’s a new glitch out now, although there’s a caveat to using it.

First, you’ll want to find a ledge for Link to drop off. Preferably, you can fall off of the mini stable in Lookout Landing. If it’s not built, you can build one of your own with the nearby building stations.

Build a ramp like the picture provided, and you’ll be all set. Once you have the ramp or ledge set up, you’ll need to make sure you only have one of the item you’re going to dupe in your inventory. If you have more than one, you can drop them on the floor. Keep track of the amount you have stored, as you can only have 21 items on the floor before they start despawning.

To dupe, stand on the top of the ramp or ledge, and prepare to throw the item you want to dupe. Fall off the ledge, and open the material list before you hit the ground. If this is done correctly, you should have the prompt to drop the item. Then, let go of the throw button, and press X to drop the item. You’ll know you did it when there are two items on the ground. However, don’t pick up both items yet, since you need to have one in your inventory to do it again.

You can do this up to 21 times, though any more will cause them to despawn. However, there’s another way where you can store more than 21 items to increase the amount you can dupe.

How to “store” more than 21 items

You’ll need to head to one of the Zonai capsule devices and use Autobuild to make the ramp shown previously. Once you have the ramp set up, you’ll need two Zonai fans. Attach them at an angle and put an item into the Zonai Capsule Machine, with the fans sitting next to the door. Activating the machine, it’ll spit the item back out, but leave the door open since the fans are in the way. Take this chance to use the Ultrahand to stuff the fans into the machine.

This will block the spawning of items, but it will save how many are in the machine.

With this in mind, drop in five items at a time after duplicating them. Once you’re done, pull out the fan and immediately start picking them up as they fall out. They’ll still despawn after 21 items appear in the game, but since they spawn in one after another, you can pick them all up with ease.

It’s not a complicated method, but it is time-consuming compared to previous glitches. However, it’s better to have a duplication glitch in Tears of the Kingdom than it is to not have one at all. This method is perfect for duplicating dragon items since you can only acquire one every 10 real-life minutes.
