Content Warning co-op steam game

Content Warning is a co-op game where you try to go viral with spooky videos

It sounded like a good idea at the time.

Lethal Company has you running around spooky areas in what is apparently a job. But what if you want to do it for good ol’ internet fame instead? Content Warning is a first-person, co-op game where you can film your buds in scary situations for some lovely clicks — if you survive.

Yes, if. Content Warning launched today on Steam alongside a trailer of some doofuses having fun and filming themselves being dumb. You know, just as you see on YouTube and TikTok. They grab flashlights and handheld cameras before hopping into a diving bell to go down where the bright colors fade and things get less goofy. The dichotomy should clue you into what kind of game Content Warning is propped up to be.

Content Warning is a co-op game where you get famous or die trying

Content Warning places you on a team of two to four players. You and your buds venture deep into what’s called the “Old World,” where the saturated color is replaced by stark black and white — save for your team’s colorful, emote-like faces. Turning the camera to yourself lets you set the premise like in a “found film” video. But things take a dark turn.

If you enjoy the aforementioned Lethal Company, Content Warning may be appealing. The silly antics appear to make way for actual horror. In one clip, we see a player filming a cute, little monster that apparently inhabits the Old World. Running away in make-believe fear seems like the logical choice to those hoping to go viral with their horror video. But then that big bug monster picks up your friend and throws them at you.

Each run of Content Warning lasts three in-game days. You’ll have to survive monster attacks while keeping an eye on battery life and a dwindling oxygen supply. Returning to the surface lets you upload your scary video to SpookTube, where you and your friends (or whoever remains) can reap the newfound fame.

Content Warning is free on Steam for 24 hours

If all that sounds up your alley, here’s some good news: Content Warning is free until April 2 at 9 am PDT. And that’s no April Fools’ joke. Once the window passes, the game will be sold on Steam for $7.99.
