How to Fish in Deepwoken – All Loot

You need a Fishing Rod to fish, which you can craft at a Crafting Station with 2 Sticks and 2 Fiber (Buy from Smith). You can also buy one at the Etris Docks, the fishing pond room in a Guild Base, or some open-world locations. Once you have a rod, equip it and click M1 to cast your line into a body of water.

Wait for a bite, and once you get it, the mini-game stats. You need to hold the appropriate key (A, S, or D) displayed on the screen while rapidly clicking M1. If you manage to pull the catch to you before it escapes, you’ll catch a random prize among the following:

  • Basic Fish/Seafood (For Fish Meat): Sea Bass, Red Snapper, Tuna, Swordfish, Squid, Urchin, Pufferfish.
  • Junk: Seaweed, Old Boots (Leather Boots).
  • Loot: Chests containing gear that can be Enchants or even Legendaries.
  • Golden Fish: Sell for a lot of Notes.
  • Enemies: Mudskipper or Lionfish.

Fishing also gets you:

  • Stat XP for Power Ups, including Strength, Fortitude, Intelligence, Willpower, and Charisma.
  • You get 1 Echo for catching anything once.
  • You can use fishing Chum to craft monster bait to spawn in and farm high-level enemies for XP.

You should use bait with the Fishing Rod equipped to increase chances of better loot like getting Chests. Be careful not to accidentally eat bait as it can make you vomit. You also catch better loot in certain locations. There are even fishing Talents, which we’ll cover below.

Best Fishing Bait in Deepwoken

Any food item can serve as bait, but I highly recommend Fish Meat or Chum for the best results. They’re both the easiest to get and the most effective. In a 20-minute session, I caught plenty of Chests using Fish Meat as bait by fishing at the spots I’ll show you below.

How to Get Fish Meat and Chum in Deepwoken

You can cook fish and get Fish Meat at any campfire. Just interact with a campfire, open your crafting menu, put fish as the ingredient, and click Craft. For beginners, Fish Meat is a great resource for keeping your Hunger and Thirst up as it restores both. As for Chum, you can buy it at the Etris Docks or craft it from Crustacean Meat by killing King Crabs. You can then use 2 Chum to craft bait for Terrapods or 3 Chum to craft bait for Megalodaunts and Treshers.

How to Get Fishing Talents

You can get three fishing talents by simply catching anything 10, 30, and 50 times. Talents both improve your fishing and help you get better loot:

  • Fisher’s Lure Talent: Makes fishing easier by drawing in catches more directly to you.
  • Hook, Line, and Sinker: Once something’s caught your line, it’s much harder for it to get loose.
  • Proficient Baiting: Reduces chances of fishing trash items.

Get all of these talents, use Fish Meat, and fish at the best fishing locations below for the greatest results.

Best Fishing Spots in Deepwoken

While you can fish almost anywhere and from any height, there are some spots that are better than others. The best fishing spots in the game with the highest chances of great loot are:

  • Fish at Vigils Docks if your origin is the Isle of Vigils
  • Mortus’ shack in Erisia
  • Boatman’s Watch
  • Tomb of the Nameless Warrior (On Lower Erisia)
  • Miner’s Landing
  • Eastern Interstitial Lighthouse
  • The Beloved Zofia
  • Starfield Grove
  • New Kyrsa, The Sleeping City
  • Starfield Veldt
  • Near the Shrine of Division
