There’s a lot of games out there these days that allow you to easily make a game within the confines of the game you’re playing, but by doing that you’re not learning any actual vital concepts for actually hard coding a real game from scratch. The guys at Primer Labs are here to change that with Code Hero, a Portal-esque puzzle game where you have to use your code gun to copy, paste and edit real javascript to interact with the game world.
If you’ve ever had an interest in learning how to program or just want to play an extremely fun game, all you have to do is pledge one dollar to Code Hero‘s Kickstarter page and you’ll instantly be able to check out the beta. As someone who is taking a Computer Science major, I think this is a brilliant idea. I just might have to see if I can learn a thing or two from Code Hero.
