Wow. Okay. Batman: Arkham Asylum looks like it won’t be your average Batman licensed title. In a small way, I suppose we have Christopher Nolan to thank. He showed the masses that Batman is a brutal dude, who relies on fear and stealth more than he does nipple-plated armor and teenybopper sidekicks. And yeah, fear and stealth seems to be what the game has up its sleeve. A new trailer was released yesterday (available after the break), focusing Batman doing his stealth thing — dropping from unseen places, cranking sleeper holds, and surprising bad dudes.

Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive are calling the stealth bit Invisible Predator. In a nutshell, it appears that you’ll be able to hide in or sneak around various places and utilize “fear takedowns.” I’m guessing that part where Batman, while hanging upside down, grabs a thug is an illustration of a fear takedown. It doesn’t always have to be theatrics — you can also plain jack a dude all Sam Fisher-like if you want.

Ready your batarangs: Batman: Arkham Asylum is due out this summer or the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
