The Witcher is branching out into other projects, too

Today, CD Projekt revealed its long-term game production plans. A big chunk of that includes several new Witcher titles, with the start of a new trilogy and other stories in store.

The previously teased next entry in The Witcher looks to be Project Polaris, a story-driven open-world RPG built on the “legacy” of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt confirms that it’s in pre-production, with CD Projekt Red developing it.

Polaris will act as the starting point for a new Witcher trilogy. And all three games in the trilogy are aiming to be delivered within a six-year period, following the launch of Polaris.

This isn’t the only new Witcher story in production, though. Back in 2021, CD Projekt acquired The Flame in the Flood developer The Molasses Flood. The team is now working on Project Sirius, an “innovative” take on The Witcher universe for new and old fans. Sirius is in pre-production as well, with support from CD Projekt Red.

On top of that, there is also another game in the works. Project Canis Majoris is in development at a third-party studio led by former Witcher veterans. It’s planned to be a story-driven, single-player open-world RPG set in The Witcher universe. Basically, there’s a lot of Witcher coming down the pipeline from CD Projekt.

Something ends, something begins

Alongside all these Witcher projects, CD Projekt also confirms that it’s working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.  There’s also the previously announced Phantom Liberty expansion, which is in the final phase of production.

And there’s even more. A new IP, separate from The Witcher and Cyberpunk, is in the works as Project Hadar. This is being developed 100% internally and is currently in the conceptual phase.

That is a lot of projects in development at CD Projekt right now. The studio did see reports of on its working conditions emerge around the launch of Cyberpunk, which CD Projekt later said it was committed to improving on.

But if you’re eager for more Cyberpunk and Witcher games, CD Projekt is working to deliver on both.
