Tyrone Rodriguez of Nicalis seems to be one of those guys that always has at least 10 projects going at one, and it’s anyone’s guess as to which one will be completed first. The only constant is that it always seems to come back to Cave Story. He loves that game hard.

I also love that game hard, so you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be picking up one of these pixel-styled Cave Story figures if and when the ever go on sale. For whatever reason, taking the minimal low-res sprite and forming it into a three dimensional sculpture feels more direct to me than going with a more literal, “realistic” style interpretation. Some will think it’s weird of me to have this in my house, but like I just finished ranting about, videogames and toys can be art. Adorning your home or office with a little piece of the videogame world feels just as legit to me as hanging a landscape painting or still life on your wall.

Hurry up and sell me this thing Tyrone!

Videogames, I suppose."- Gainax, FLCL Vol. 1 "The beach, the trees, even the clouds in the sky... everything is build from little tiny pieces of stuff. Just like in a Gameboy game... a nice tight little world... and all its inhabitants... made out of little building blocks... Why can't these little pixels be the building blocks for love..? For loss... for understanding"- James Kochalka, Reinventing Everything part 1 "I wonder if James Kolchalka has played Mother 3 yet?" Jonathan Holmes
