For now, you can toggle a few options
The Resident Evil 4 remake has had enough time to marinate, and things are looking good for it: in terms of its overall impact on the industry in 2023, and its legacy going forward. There is one small visual problem though, isolated to just the PS5 version. It’s what Capcom is dubbing the “flickering lights issue in the PS5 version,” which gets the entire point across in just a few words. I actually had this problem happen when I first booted up the game (and a few subsequent rounds after that), but it went away after a power cycle. Let’s look at how to temporarily fix it while a patch is being worked on.
We're aware of an issue where players may experience flickering lights at the bottom of the screen when playing the PS5 version of Resident Evil 4. Here are some temporary fixes we recommend.
We intend to fix the issue in a future update and apologize for any inconvenience! pic.twitter.com/qhSp8RwGQN

Capcom is working on a fix, but here’s a temporary one for the PS5 screen flickering issue
So far Capcom is handling this pretty well; given that they’ve acknowledged the problem publicly and offered a fix.
Here are the stepsĀ Capcom has offered via the game’s option menu:
- Try saving and restarting the game
- Set the depth of field toggle to off
- Set the motion blur toggle to on
For me, restarting the game (and power cycling my TV) managed to do the trick. One out of every three times I booted up the game the screen flickering was present, but once I cycled everything, I was good to go for the entire session. Inconvenient for sure, but it’s nice to know a permanent fix is on the way.
