It was originally tied to a Twitch drop
Close to launch, WB Interactive held a cross-promotional campaign for Hogwarts Legacy that involved watching Twitch footage for item drops. While it was fairly easy to acquire most of said drops through viewing any Hogwarts Legacy content, there was one big asterisk: Merlin’s Cloak. Unfortunately, Merlin’s Cloak was directly tied to official Twitch streams from the developer, so it’s been a little hard to come by if you weren’t following WB social channels. Here’s how we stand on Merlin’s Cloak as of today.
There are no plans to bring back the Merlin’s Cloak Hogwarts Legacy promotion
WB Confirmed on March 10, 2023 (via its official Twitter account) that there are “no plans” for another campaign to begin to allow players to acquire Merlin’s Cloak. Although the account suggests “keeping an eye out” on the official Twitter page for more information in the future, the answer is definitive, and seems to confirm the end of the Merlin’s Cloak campaign for the time being.
If that changes, we’ll let you know as soon as possible. The team could potentially patch in Merlin’s Cloak with a future update, as a free DLC item that the player acquires automatically. That’s typically how some of this cosmetic DLC was doled out in similar games; but for now, there are no current plans for that.
Hey there, Kyle! The campaign for the Merlin's Cloak ended on February 25th and there are currently no plans for another campaign to begin. We encourage keeping an eye out on the official Twitter and Twitch pages for any future updates! Thank you!
