Chapter 5 is your last chance to fully explore the village
The Resident Evil 4 remake takes a chapter-based approach to its campaign, which is fairly helpful in cordoning off “points of no return” for people who don’t want to miss anything. As you weave your way through the core areas of the village, castle, and the island, you’ll find that at some point, you won’t be able to wander back to past zones. Here’s where the cutoff is for the village.
While Chapter 6 is technically still the village, most of it can’t be accessed after Chapter 5
Chapter 5 is the point where you really want to finish out all of your requests and pick up all of the treasures available in the village. After entering and completing the villa encounter at the end of Chapter 5, you’ll start to be locked out of large portions of the village.
Once you start Chapter 6 you’ll be able to explore a portion of the village map, but it’s not nearly as sprawling as the zones available pre-Chapter 6: including the iconic “village square” that most people associate with RE4. Think of Chapter 6 as a transition zone from the village to the castle.
When you hit Chapter 7 you’ve officially arrived at the castle, and that’s the technical point of no return for the village as a whole.
