Unannounced as of now
Blizzard’s looking for someone who has the chops to “lead the Diablo series into the future.” Whether that means a new main entry into the franchise or something more persistent, that’s anyone’s guess. But Blizzard has its ear to the ground for the right candidate.
That revelation comes via a job listing for a game director on Blizzard’s website. It’s a powerful position, likely the summit of the creative mountain. The job description includes responsibilities such as “be the vision holder for the franchise” and “direct game design while successfully partnering with the production director to deliver and maintain an epic gaming experience.” Heady stuff.
Interestingly, the application process requires submitting a cover letter that details why the applicant wants to work at Blizzard and what games they’re playing right now. Those sound more like questions that’d be asked when trying to lock down an unpaid gig at myblogmatters.net/videogames, but Blizzard has a good enough track record so I guess it knows what it’s doing. Trust The Process.
