W of the year

The Call of Duty Black Ops 6 community has almost managed to do the unthinkable by forcing a AAA developer to reverse a decision that was deemed a nuisance by all.

In a major change of heart, developers Treyarch Studios have informed that all legacy XP tokens will be useable across all applicable game modes. This is a massive change from what was announced after November 14, when players realized that their legacy XP tokens were lost forever. Thankfully, an upcoming update will fix this situation shortly.

Black Ops 6 community proves that some developers still care

The modern days of AAA gaming haven’t seen too many wins, but Treyarch and Activision might have ended up doing something wonderful for a change. Nobody knew that we would no longer have access to the legacy XP tokens. There are several players who have shared screenshots of their saved tokens, which instantly became useless.

However, the upcoming update will change that situation, and it will be highly beneficial for all. Whether you have a few or too many tokens from Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, they can be helpful to accelerate your grind for unlocking Black Ops 6 content.

Additionally, the developers have also admitted that the plan to remove the use of legacy XP tokens is related to game stability and will be solved soon. We don’t yet have an ETA on when the issue will be fixed, but there’s a ray of hope.

In the meantime, some users seem to have figured out a way around it, which requires them to enter the Warzone game mode to activate the tokens. Doing so keeps the tokens active, and you can gain the extra XP/applicable items by playing Multiplayer and Zombies. However, the upcoming fix will no longer require you to hop into Warzone if you don’t want to do that.

All things considered, the community did a good job. Irrespective of Treyarch’s claims on their X profile, the backlash might have played the biggest role in this huge U-turn.
