MW3 leak has players convinced it’s about Black Ops 6, but I’m not so sure

I'm not buying it.

Leakers trawling through the files of Modern Warfare Season 3 Reloaded have discovered an upcoming weapon blueprint linked to Call of Duty 2024, but while some players are convinced it confirms Black Ops 6 as the title, I’m not so sure that’s the case.

After every major CoD patch, dataminers spend time searching through the files included in the update to see what is coming to the game in the future. Usually, this process unveils new maps, modes, or weapons, and that was the case with Season 3 Reloaded.

As discovered by realityuk_, a new Pistol linked to 2024’s Call of Duty release is set to be added to the game, with the name “Sally” written on it, and six tally marks. This has immediately set tongues wagging, with plenty of fans claiming the tally marks are confirmation that Black Ops 6 will be released later this year.

For those hyped by this prospect, I’m here to pour some cold water on the flames of your excitement. Look at that gun again, and tell me if you think it looks familiar. It should, because it’s the same pistol featured on the cover of 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, complete with the same tally marks and Sally scratching.

In my opinion, the inclusion of this pistol is to hype up the new Treyarch-developed game, but this pistol doesn’t tell us anything about a possible name.

As for what the next CoD could be called, the prevailing theory right now is Black Ops Gulf War, although that hasn’t been confirmed just yet. We’ll likely learn more during the Call of Duty Direct that’s set to take place on Sunday, June 9.
