Thanks to his ability to offer a decent amount of off-the-field Electro DMG and a hefty boost to your team’s efficiency when breaking through Vibration shields, Yuanwu can be considered one of the most unique resonators in Wuthering Waves.
But that also makes him a little unusual to build, after all, should you prioritize his buff or his damage? Here’s the best Yuanwu build in Wuthering Waves, as well as a few teams sure to allow him to leave everything in the ring.
- Table of Contents:
Best weapons for Yuanwu in Wuthering Waves
As his Resonance Skill, Liberation, and all of his attacks while in his Lightning Infused state scale of his Defense, the best weapon for Yuanwu in Wuthering Waves is the 4-star Amity Accord. Providing a massive 61.6% defense boost at level 90, the weapon also shines for its 20% Resonance Liberation buff (at level 1). The latter is also huge, as Yuanwu can only apply a team-wide version of his Lightning Infused Vibration buff through his Liberation.
Best F2P weapons
The best F2P weapon for Yuanwu in WuWa is a Rank 5 Gauntlets of Voyager. Offering a 30% DEF boost, the weapon will also provide him with an extra amount of energy within 20-second intervals. Using Gauntlets#21D for its Energy Regen substat can also work great if you are looking to double down on his Liberation availability.
Although I don’t recommend pursuing Abyss Surges —unless you are prepping up for Xiangli Yao‘s release— the weapon can be a decent fit for Yuanwu, especially if you want to play around with him as a hybrid/on-field sub-DPS. When equipped, the 5-star will boost his ER total by 12.5% and his Basic Attack DMG by 10%. You can get Abyss Surges for free by selecting it as your 5-star Weapon Supply Chest pick.
Best Sonata and echoes for Yuanwu
Like most off-the-field sub-DPSs, the best Sonata for Yuanwu is a 5-piece Moonlit Clouds. The Sonata earns the spot thanks to its 10% Energy Regen buff and how it will allow Yuanwu to buff the ATK of the resonator taking the field after him by 22.5%. Using a 5-piece Void Thunder can also work here, but keep in mind that its 40% Electro DMG boost won’t work miracles when paired with Yuanwu’s subpar on-field damage.
Echo-wise, I recommend going for the usual 4-3-3-1-1 composition with Impermanence Heron as your main. When equipped in the slot, the echo will allow Yuanwu to offer a 12% All-DMG buff to a party member by performing his Outro Skill. If you plan on using the Void Thunder set, Thundering Mephis will be my main pick for the main echo spot.
Recommended stats and substats
Thanks to his unique scaling, go with DEF as the main stat for both common echoes and with Energy Regen and Electro DMG Bonus for the Elites. If using an ER weapon, go with an Electro DMG Bonus pair. Lastly, go with Crit Rate as the main stat for your Overlord echo. As always, I recommend that you focus on Crit Rate and DMG substats until you reach the 50% Rate/100% DMG threshold. Once that’s done, focus on Energy Regen to further boost Yuanwu’s Liberation availability.
Are his Resonance Chain Nodes a must?
No, as Yuanwu can work while at R0 no matter your role of choice, although he will shine significantly brighter as an off-the-field sub-DPS. But that does not mean his chain nodes aren’t game changers, as his third one, Upholder of Integrity, will boost the damage of all of his coordinated attacks by an extra 20% of his defense. His fourth node, Retributive Knuckles, is another standout, as it will allow Yuanwu to provide shields to the whole party after performing his Resonance Liberation.
Best Yuanwu teams in Wuthering Waves
The best team for Yuanwu in WuWa features him as its off-the-field sub-DPS, Jinhsi as its main DPS, and either Taoqi or Verina/Baizhi as its focused support or healer. The reason for that lies in the way his Thunder Field coordinated attacks excel in generating Incandescence stacks for Jinhsi, thus massively buffing her already high damage. Yuanwu’s Vibration and resistance to interruption buffs will also guarantee that enemies will feel the true might of all of her Resonance Skill variants.
If you don’t have Jinhsi, Yuanwu can be a great pick for pretty much any team when facing bosses, although his presence will force you to go to battle without either a focused support or a healer.
