Most of the tweaks would be in the controller settings, which makes both offense and defense a lot more efficient. Let’s take a look at the changes you should make to get the most purchase of your throws and defensive attempts on the court.

The controller settings needed the highest number of changes to match my expectations.

  • Vibration Function: Off (You can keep it on)
  • Trigger Effect: On
  • Shot Timing Profile: Low-Risk Reward (Change to High-Risk if you’re a veteran)
  • Layup Timing Profile: Same as Shot Timing Profile
  • Free Throw Timing: User Timing
  • Shot Timing Visual Cue: Push
  • Shot Meter Input Type: All
  • Pro Stick Function: Default
  • Pro Stick Orientation: Absolute
  • Off-Ball Offense Mode: Absolute
  • Double Team Reaction: Manual
  • Help Defense Button Function: Double Team
  • Call For Pick and Roll Vs Fade: Manual
  • Player Icons: On
  • Skip Pass: Enabled
  • Icon Lead Passing: On
  • Pro Stick Pass Type: Normal
  • Icon Passing: Default
  • Receiver Control: Receiver Get Open
  • Hold Lob Pass Button: Skip Pass
  • Passive Dribble Hand Switches: Disabled
  • Pro Stick Defense: Camera Relative
  • Shading Indicator: On
  • Who To Guard: On
  • Boxout Assist Strength: 60
  • Pass Target Profile: Default (Only change it to custom if you pass using icons. In that case, Change Pass Target weight as required)

Best NBA 2K25 Customize HUD settings

Next, go to Customize HUD to make the following changes.

  • Shot Meter Shots
  • Visibility for Shots: Off (Unless you’re a beginner)
  • Visibility for Layups: On
  • Visibility for Free Throws: On
  • Graphic: Arrow
  • Color: Personal Preference
  • Size: Medium
  • Placement: To the Side

Then, go to Shot Feedback.

  • Visibility: All Shots
  • Distance: On
  • Timing: On
  • Free Throw Chance%: On
  • Coverage: On

You can tweak the normal settings and Coach Settings based on your personal preferences. One important change is reducing/raising the difficulty level to have a decent challenge.
