Best Lycaon build in Zenless Zone Zero – Best Drive Discs, W-Engine, and team compositions

Unleash the beast!

As expected of the head of the Victoria Housekeeping crew and given his ability to apply high amounts of daze while also decreasing the Ice resistance of foes, Lycaon is both one of the best stun agents in Zenless Zone Zero and a vital member of its strongest team composition.

But as we all know, not even the best can excel without a proper build. To help you give all your foes a deadly lesson in proper etiquette, here’s the best Von Lycaon build in Zenless Zone Zero.

The best W-Engines for Lycaon in Zenless Zone Zero

The best W-Engine for Lycaon in Zenless Zone Zero is his signature The Restrained. Featuring 684 ATK and 18% Impact at level 60, the S-Ranker will also boost his Basic Attack DMG/Daze by 6% for 8 seconds after he hits an enemy (at one star). The effect can stack five times with each of them being counted separately. Each skill can only trigger one stack per use.

There’s not much that needs to be said here, as although the 6% buff might not be impressive at first sight, its cumulative value when paired with Lycaon’s charged attacks will more than make up for it. You will also be able to get an almost immediate 18% boost by performing his Assist Follow-Up, Dash Attack, and Basic Attacks in quick succession.

If his BIS is not an option for you, Koleda‘s Hellfire Gears will be my main pick for Lycaon. Featuring the same level 60 base ATK and Impact values as The Restrained, the W-Engine will boost his off-the-field energy generation speed by 0,6/s and allow him to get a 10% boost in Impact after hitting targets with his EX Special Attack (max of two stacks). All values above are related to the item at one star.

Best F2P and A-Rank W-Engines for Lycaon

Like with Koleda, Steam Oven is both the best A-Rank and F2P pick for Lycaon in ZZZ. Apart from its 594 base ATK value and 50% ER boost at level 60 —the latter of which will increase his EX Special’s availability— a one-star Steam Oven will also boost his Impact by 2% per 10 energy gathered to a maximum of 8 stacks. This means that even at its starter rarity, the item will allow Lycaon to get an Impact boost on par with the W-Engines featuring it as a substat.

If you are looking for a more stable source of Impact, using Precious Fossilized Core or the BP-exclusive Six Shooter can also work. At level 60, both will provide a 15% boost to the stat and feature significant daze-related passives.

Best Drive Discs for Lycaon in ZZZ

As a stun-focused sub-DPS, the best Drive Disc composition for Lycaon in Zenless Zone Zero is a 4-piece Shockstar Disco paired with a 2-piece Woodpecker Electro. This composition will allow you to get the +10% Impact and +20% Basic Attack, Dash Attack, and Dodge Counter Daze courtesy of Shockstar Disco, while also getting a handy amount of Crit Rate.

I don’t recommend pairing Shockstar Disco with any other set, as Lycaon’s high attack speed makes having high amounts of Crit Rate and DMG a must.

Based on the above, I recommend going with Crit Rate as the main stat for your fourth Drive Disc. For the remaining two, go with Ice DMG Bonus and Impact respectively. ATK can also work as a placeholder for the fifth disc. Substat-wise, prioritize getting Crit Rate and DMG. Remember, you must reach the recommended 50% Crit Rate and 80/100% Crit DMG threshold if you want to maximize his damage.

The best Lycaon teams in Zenless Zone Zero

The best team for Lycaon in Zenless Zone Zero features him as its Stun sub-DPS, Ellen Joe as its main DPS, and Soukaku as its focused support. When in the field, this team —which I like to call Eternal Blizzard— will be focused on pairing Soukaku’s massive ATK and Ice DMG buffs with Lycaon’s Stun multiplier and debuff to skyrocket Ellen’s DMG. A variation of Eternal Blizzard will also very likely be the premier team for Miyabi.

If you don’t have an Ice DPS, his synergy with Corin makes Lycaon a vital part of her best team. Pairing him up with Rina as a joker in Electro-focused compositions can also work great.

Which Bangboo should you choose?

Its ability to apply massive amounts of Ice Anomaly makes Sharkboo my main pick for our Eternal Blizzard team. Among the A-Rankers, Penguinboo will be able to provide the same effects as our top pick, albeit at a lower output. Using Buttler can also work given its ability to offer a great deal of extra energy.
