Best Hoverbike builds in Tears of the Kingdom

Recommended Videos

There’s plenty of ways to get around in Tears of the Kingdom. None are more efficient than the Hoverbike, though. The Zonai Devices Link finds around Hyrule can be built into many contraptions, and while a plane with the Zonai Wing can be useful, its limited use can send you crashing down at the most inopportune times. This means you’ll need to get a little creative with your flying machines, crafting a device that can be used indefinitely. Players have found that device, and thus, the hoverbike was born.

Best Hoverbike Builds

There’s four hoverbike builds players have invented to help both you and Link to traverse Hyrule, each with their own unique attributes. Building a hoverbike is simple, as the smallest designs take two Fans, and one Steering Stick. The fans need to be attached so that when Link stands straight up, the fans are at a 45-degree angle facing behind him. This will cause the bikes to move forward, allowing you to adjust your altitude while flying.

However, each bike depends on what you’re looking for in a hoverbike.

Classic Hoverbike

This build is the most simple, with two fans placed like wheels on a bike, and the steering stick in the middle. While this one takes a bit of finesse to build, it’s a stellar all-around hoverbike. With two fans, the stable speed and placement of the fans give you good control when flying. Its power usage is on the low end, giving about 13 seconds of flight time per battery. However, it does take four seconds to get off the ground. This bike is best suited for exploration when traveling in the Depths.

Goblin Glider

Named after the Spider-Man villain the Green Goblin, this bike places its two fans on the sides of the steering stick. The power usage is the same compared to the Classic Hoverbike, though its turning radius is much larger. While it excels in how fast it can change altitude, turning is not one of its strong suits. However, this build is perfect for open areas like the Sky Islands and the Overworld, as it’s easier to build, and more likely to fly in a straight line. Plus, the fan placement allows for a more balanced build when adding additional batteries to increase flight time.

Hover-Trike

If you’re looking for something with a little more power, you can upgrade the classic hoverbike to the hover-trike. by removing the back fan, and placing two together in its place, you’ll increase your flying power, but at a cost. Getting off the ground takes only 3 seconds, although the extra battery increases the power usage. The bike can achieve sustained flight for a total of 10 seconds per battery, so make sure you have enough batteries, or Zonai charges to account for this. Being its design is a modified version of the Classic Hoverbike, you won’t be able to attach batteries to the tops of the back two fans, due to Link being in the way while riding it. This makes it a good option for someone looking for a bike with a little more oomph.

Hoverbike Deluxe

The final hoverbike is another modification of the classic. This version replaces the two fans with four fans, replicating the original design with more power. Its takeoff time is a speedy two seconds, though the four fans will consume a whole battery in a mere eight seconds. The extra fan power does make this the best-handling hoverbike of the bunch. Allowing it to change altitude and turn fairly easily. With an extra fan on the front, there’s more room for extra batteries. This bike is the fastest, and overall best-performing bike of the group, though its high power draw makes its usefulness only available to those who have maxed out their battery capacity.

Each bike has its own strengths and weaknesses, it’s up to the player to decide which bike is for them. As well as experiment with new designs to see if there’s alternatives that haven’t been discovered yet!
