Shortly after you’ve cleared through the Icehowl Ruins and defeated the first boss X’Fal, The Scarred Baron, you will come across a character named Lorath. He will join your party as a companion and lead you to the nearby town of Kyovashad in a quest called Rite of Passage.

Upon reaching the Kyovashad Gatehouse, a young guard will halt you from entering the town. Lorath informs you that a cleansing ritual must be performed before entrance to the town is granted. The ritual consists of taking a piece of holy cedar wood, inscribing it with the sin that troubles you, and tossing it into the fire to burn away your sin.
