Best D2R Season 5 Starter builds

There are dozens of viable builds in Diablo 2: Resurrected, but we have put together those we feel are the best going into Season 5. These builds will give you a great start to the new ladder season, and also give you the ability to continue into the end game or easily transition.

Blizzard Sorceress — The best overall build for Diablo 2: Resurrected Season 5

Build Guide: Blizzard Sorceress by MrLlamaSC

You can never go wrong with a Blizzard Sorceress in Diablo 2: Resurrected. And, Season 5 is no different. This build focuses on the Sorceress’ ability Blizzard and uses Ice Blast or Glacial Spike for further AoE cold damage and crowd control. The major draw to this build is the ability to build high Magic Find while still outputting massive amounts of damage while farming. It doesn’t take much gear to make this build viable, so it’s very inexpensive which makes it great as a ladder starter build. Furthermore, you have lots of end-game gearing options with this build, making it even easier to play once you reach later parts of the season. The build is very squishy, but with your insane amount of crowd control, we don’t plan on getting hit. You also may have some trouble with mobs that have cold immunity.

Hammerdin (Blessed Hammer Paladin) — The best tanky build for D2R Season 5

Build Guide: Hammerdin by Oxygen

The Hammerdin is an iconic build in Diablo 2: Resurrected. Blessed Hammer gives the Paladin the ability to deal high damage and AoE while still having a level of tankiness. It’s an extremely versatile build and like the Blizzard Sorceress has been capable every season as both a ladder start and end-game build. This build can also make use of high Magic Find and still be powerful, which is why it’s one of the best. Also, there are very few mob immunities that affect this build, which is great. It does have some trouble in narrow areas due to the mechanics of Blessed Hammer, but as you learn the build you will be able to account for that with better positioning.

Lightning Fury Amazon — The boss killer build in Diablo 2: Resurrected Season 5

If you want to focus on farming bosses, look no further. The Lightning Fury Amazon is arguably the best boss killer in all of D2R. This build is also extremely easy to learn, while still being capable of clearing all content in Diablo 2: Resurrected, including the late game. You will be full-on lightning damage with this build, which can leave you a bit exposed to those with immunities due to the lack of damage type diversity. However, the pure damage output makes up for it. To truly unlock the full potential of this build you will need some harder-to-acquire gear, but thankfully you will be able to farm it with this build.

Diablo 2: Resurrected Season 5 Class Tier List

For Season 5, we’re actually putting together two class tier lists for D2R. The first is for Ladder Start. The high-tier classes seen here are going to give you the most build variety at the beginning of Season 5 so you can easily farm up for a future build or even character. Second, we have our class tier list for the end game in Diablo 2: Resurrected.

Ladder Start Class Tier List for Diablo 2: Resurrected

  • S Tier: Sorceress (Blizzard, Hydra, Meteor), Paladin (Fist of the Heavens, Blessed Hammer, Smite)
  • A Tier: Druid (Tornado, Fissure, Shock Wave support), Barbarian (Berserk, Battle Order support)

As you can see, there are plenty of viable builds in D2R. I recommend picking whichever build fits your playstyle, and go from there!
