The event went live earlier on January 11, and it will be available till January 25. During this time, you can complete the Dr. Glimmerfin quest to get an exclusive boat and a new rod. All these can be obtained for free of cost, but first, you’ll have to get four Algae samples.

To make matters more complex, the samples are of four types, and they spawn at four different locations. Let’s take a look at how you can catch them, and what is an optimum equipment setup to run.

Best Algae locations in Fisch (Golden Tide Event)

The Algae you’re looking for will spawn in Algae Spawn pools. These pools spawn in four different locations, and they trigger randomly. You could also use Sundial Totems to bypass the reliance on luck or hope someone else is doing the same on your server.

Here’s the full list of the four locations where the Algae Pools will spawn.

  • Ancient Isles
  • Snowcap Island
  • Forsaken Island
  • Mushgrove Island

When a pool spawns at any of these locations, you’ll get a notification. The spot is also easy to locate as there will be a marker available on the screen as well. Just track down the marker, and you’ll reach your spot. The region will also have a different appearance compared to the standard color of the ocean waters.

Best bait and rod for catching Algae in Fisch

Thankfully, you don’t need to think much in order to get the Algae samples. Yes, you’ll have to get lucky, and a server-wide luck buff is certainly going to be helpful. Based on player experiences, low-tier rods apparently work better when you’re trying to catch Algae. The Magma rod is one item that you can use, and it also offers a 15% Luck buff.

Due to its rarity, it’s best to buff the server luck as much as possible. This is in contrast to other limited catches like the Eternal Frostwhale, which requires at least mid-tier rods to hook and reel it in. You’ll also want to use the Garbage bait to increase your chances of success.

That’s pretty much all that you need to do in order to get all the Algae samples. Do remember that it’s a matter of grind, as you’ll be relying heavily on your luck. Then again, you have plenty of days to complete the event and collect all four samples.
