Developer Moving Pieces Interactive has released an in-depth trailer for its upcoming companion title for its previous release, Shoulders of Giants. This latest game, Entropy Survivors, is a hectic co-op bullet-hell roguelite in which you play as an anthropomorphic frog riding the back of a lethal and advanced mech.
In Entropy Survivors, you battle wave after wave of enemies alongside fellow mech-riding frogs (players) using weapons and upgrades that grow more powerful and silly over time. You can customize the type of long-range weapon your frog wields and the class of your mecha-samurai GERM to suit varying playstyles before jumping in to see how many waves you can survive. Make it to the end of a mission, and you’ll be forced to turn on your fellow players to see who emerges as the true victor.
Survive the deep dive
In this 101 trailer for Entropy Survivors, you can learn everything you need to know about the game to help you decide if you want to jump in. While on the surface, it may look a lot like every other bullet-hell roguelite you’ve played; there are a few subtle differences that I think will make for some really interesting build-crafting.
First, you pick your GERM class. There are a few to choose from, such as the healing Paladin class or the sneaky Assassin class. Each one has different abilities that lean into one particular play style. The Assasin, for example, uses smokescreens to avoid enemies and sneak up on them to gain an advantage.
Next, you must pick the weapons your frog, named Froggie, will be using. These act as your long-range weapon, which you’ll use to hit enemies from afar while your GERM focuses on melee combat. After selecting some starting perks, you’ll have a carefully crafted build before you’ve even picked up the upgrades earned from gaining experience in a mission.
Once you’re fighting off waves of enemies, you’ll gain new weapons and abilities on the fly. These include bee-shooting guns, a giant bowling ball, and all manner of other absurd tools of destruction that result in the screen being filled with explosions, death, and damage counters, making those the best builds in Vampire Survivors create.
While the game is slated as a co-op title, you can jump in and play solo if you’d rather go it alone. I can imagine it’s easier to appreciate the builds you come up with when there aren’t three other players causing mayhem with theirs on-screen.
Entropy Survivors is slated for a 2024 release window, meaning you’ll get to play it at some point over the next few months. You can wishlist the game on Steam to stay up to date with the latest news. Fans can even connect with the developers on the official Discord server if they want to know when they’ll get to play and catch every new feature as it’s revealed.
