We know that romance is not a subtle thing in Baldur’s Gate 3, and it doesn’t take much effort or persuasion to become amorously involved with one of your companions. Larian’s idea of courting is just a brief conversation and perhaps a personal favor, which means that even if you don’t pay much attention to that aspect of your journey, you’ll probably still end up in the sack with one or another of your companions. Sometimes even unwittingly.
That being said, there are certain things you can do to speed up that process. For instance, when it comes to Shadowheart, players can make her a gift of Night Orchid, which happens to be her favorite flower. The only catch is that there are only a handful of Night Orchids throughout Baldur’s Gate 3, so stumbling onto them on your own may be out of the question, especially if you’ve progressed far into the second or third act already.
And for those who’re not interested in Shadowheart, Night Orchid is still a valuable alchemical ingredient, allowing you to brew the Solution of Night Orchid, which can then be turned into Superior Elixir of Arcane Cultivation. Drinking this potion before going into battle will give you an extra level 3 spell slot, a very convenient boost if you happen to be a frequent spell caster.
Where to find Night Orchid in Baldur’s Gate 3
Night Orchid has been placed in only a handful of locations throughout the massive, spiraling world of Baldur’s Gate 3. Three of these are in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2. You can actually find two Night Orchids as soon as unlocking the map. These are their coordinates:
- Near the place where you meet the Harpers for the first time. (X:55 , Y:175)
- Near the body of Harper Lightspark and close to the NCP known as He Who Was. (X:90 , Y:105)
But using the minimap’s compass to find your way around the labyrinthine place is a headache, so we’ve marked the map in the places where you can pick the Night Orchid:
Lastly, you can make your way south from the Last Light Inn to find the third and final Night Orchid. This is near the Shadowed Battlefield Waypoint and its coordinates are (X:40 , Y:35).
For players who have already moved past Act 2, the last Night Orchid can be found in Cazador’s Dungeon in Act 3 during Astarion’s companion quest at these coordinates: (X:-1955 , Y:-855).
Gifting the Night Orchid to Shadowheart will significantly boost the character’s opinion of the character, further locking in her romance.
