Baizhu’s Ascension and Talent materials in Genshin Impact

Let me write you a prescription...

Baizhu is the premier Dendro healer in Genshin Impact. If you want to maximize his support capabilities, you’ll want to Ascend him to level 90 and invest in his Talents. Here’s everything you’ll need for your Baizhu ready for combat!

Character Ascension

Evergloom Ring – Iniquitous Baptist

Baizhu’s world boss is the Iniquitous Baptist in the desert of Sumeru. Defeat this boss to earn Evergloom Rings for Baizhu’s character Ascension. The Iniquitous Baptist is in a cave underground. You’ll encounter it during a World Quest in the desert region, but you can reach the boss arena and start farming without doing the quest.

For a level 90 Baizhu, you’ll need 46 Evergloom Rings. You should expect to fight the Iniquitous Baptist an average of 18 times, or spend about 720 Resin at World Level 8.

Violetgrass

Baizhu uses Violetgrass as his local specialty. These can be found high up on cliffsides around Liyue. Put Yanfei or Qiqi in your party to mark their locations on your minimap. You can also grow them from seeds in your Teapot.

Baizhu requires 168 Violetgrass to reach level 90. They respawn 48 hours after harvest, but there should be plenty of Violetgrass in the open world without having to wait for them to respawn.

Fungal Spores

Baizhu uses Fungal Spores as his common enemy drop. These drop from all fungus enemies around Sumeru, but do not hit the fungi with Pyro or Electro attacks. Using these elements against fungi will change the items they drop, resulting in fewer materials you actually need.

To reach level 90, Baizhu will need 18 Fungal Spores, 30 Luminescent Pollen, and 36 Crystalline Cyst Dust. Be sure to farm some extra for leveling Baizhu’s Talents.

Nagadus Emerald

As a Dendro character, Baizhu requires green Dendro gems in order to Ascend. Unfortunately, Baizhu’s world boss, the Iniquitous Baptist, does not drop gems of the correct element. If you need more Nagadus Emeralds, convert some from another element using Dust of Azoth at an alchemy bench.

For maximum character Ascension, you will need 1 Nagadus Emerald Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, and 6 Gemstones in total.

Talent Levels

The totals and estimates below assume you will max out all three of Baizhu’s Talents. If you’re short on Resin or materials, though, you can leave Baizhu’s Normal Attacks at level 1. Most of his utility comes from his Skill and Burst.

Gold Books

Baizhu’s Talents use Gold books to level up. These can be farmed from the Liyue Talent domain on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

To fully crown Baizhu’s Talents, he will need 9 brown books, 63 silver books, and 114 gold books. This will take about 2,480 Resin if you’re starting from scratch.

Fungal Spores

Fungi can be found all over Sumeru and parts of other areas. While farming, do not hit the fungi with Pyro or Electro, or else you will receive the wrong drops.

Baizhu’s Talents will require 18 Fungal Spores, 66 Luminescent Pollen, and 93 Crystalline Cyst Dust. These figures don’t include spores needed for character Ascension.

Worldspan Fern – Guardian of Apep’s Oasis

Baizhu’s weekly boss is the Guardian of Apep’s Oasis in the desert of Sumeru. You can unlock the boss domain by completing Chapter II of Nahida’s Story Quests. If you don’t have the domain unlocked, you can still access the challenge through the Adventurer’s Handbook.

Baizhu’s Talents will require a total of 18 Worldspan Ferns. If starting from scratch, this will take about 8 weeks of farming on the highest difficulty.
