One of the more popular creatures to tame in ARK: Survival Ascended is the formidable Doedicurus. The tanky brute is not only good as a defensive option, but is extremely versatile and a master at gathering Stone. However, the Doedicurus’ somewhat smaller size and has the ability to blend in with various regions. In this ARK: Survival Ascended Doedicurus location guide, we will explain exactly where you can go to find and tame a Doedicurus.
ARK: Survival Ascended Doedicurus spawn location
In ARK: Survival Ascended, we currently only have access to the remastered The Island map. If you look at the image above, you can see exactly where the Doedicurus will typically spawn. The highlighted green areas are typically the best place to find the Doedicurus. Spawns for the creature in this area plentiful, and you should have no trouble finding them. The absolute best area is around the central volcano in the middle of the map. It’s technically considered the redwood area.
The orangeish/yellow areas can also spawn Doedicurus, but not nearly as much as the green spots. Once again the central volcano/redwood area is the primary spot. If you look at the river to the north of the central volcano, I have seen the creature spawn along the river, both to the north and south. However, you’re still likely to have better success spotting one if you head towards the central volcano.
There are a few spots the Doedicurus can spawn, but only a single entity. Those spots are marked in red on the map above. You’ll notice these spawns are traditionally in easier to reach areas, in the beginner portions of the map and areas you can reach without flying. However, it’s important to note that these spawns are not guaranteed, nor are they that common. You might get lucky and find one there that you can tame, but if you want a higher chance of assured results, you need to head to at least the orange and yellow areas.
With this ARK: Survival Ascended Doedicurus location guide you should know where exactly on The Island map to find and tame the creature. You’ll want to do so because there is no better way to farm Stone in ARK!
