All new World of Warcraft expansion chapters (Worldsoul Saga)

The first part is due in fall of 2024

At BlizzCon 2023 on November 3, Blizzard announced the next multi-chapter plan for World of Warcraft, and it’s a literal saga. Here’s a full breakdown of everything we know about The Worldsoul Saga, and its next three accompanying expansions.

What is the Worldsoul Saga?

The Worldsoul Saga is a multi-expansion arc for World of Warcraft.

Although it sounded like Blizzard might be going in a completely different direction earlier in the BlizzCon 2023 opening ceremony; The Worldsoul Saga is not a “WoW 2” and will merely serve as a marketing term for the trio of expansions, which is a continuation of the original game that launched in 2004.

While we only received details for the first expansion at BlizzCon 2023, we know all three “parts” (as Warcraft father Chris Metzen explained): The War Within (2024), Midnight (TBA), and The Last Titan (TBA).

The Worldsoul Saga Expansion 1: The War Within (Fall 2024)

The War Within is due out in the fall of 2024, and it’s the expansion we heard the most about at BlizzCon. We got a brief cutscene teaser for The War Within, which featured a confident Thrall and an emotionally tortured Anduin. They will be called to action to fight the Void, and deal with that giant sword that’s currently stuck in Azeroth. Metzen notes that you’ll delve “into the heart of Azeroth itself, exploring subterranean kingdoms.”

Here are all the new features shown off at BlizzCon 2023:

  • Isle of Dorn (new area)
  • The Ringing Deeps (new zone)
  • Hallowfall (new zone)
  • Delves (a new activity described as “bite-sized activities” for 1-5 players that offer endgame rewards)
  • Warbands (an official way to incorporate alts, and share banks/reputation)
  • Hero talents (dark ranger and farseer were teased)
  • The Earthen Allied race
  • Dynamic flight for mounts
  • More new dungeons and raids

The Worldsoul Saga Expansion 2: Midnight (TBA)

World of Warcraft: Midnight will thrust players back into Quel’Thalas, where you’ll be fighting the Void once again. You’ll be “re-unifying the scattered elves of Azeroth,” and will be gearing up for a big showdown with the Void.

As such, it’s very heavily hinted that the first expansion will be a teaser Midnight and the Last Titan, which will have meatier moments.

Midnight does not have any current window for when it may release, though going off the “roughly every two years” cadence of old, we could see it in 2026.

The Worldsoul Saga Expansion 3: The Last Titan (TBA)

This is the expansion we know the least about, but suffice it to say, it could have a big impact Warcraft lore as a whole.

You’ll be going back to Northrend, which is a no-brainer fan-favorite location to trot out during your epic conclusion of The Worldsoul Saga. Titans will return to Azeroth, and there will be a “vast conspiracy” to deal with, that will “challenge everything you think you know about the Titans, their intentions, and the true nature of Azeroth itself.”

The Last Titan currently has no release date or window, but based on prior patterns, it could come out in 2028.
