All MTG x Monty Python Secret Lair cards in Vol. 1 and 2

We Want...A SHRUBBERY!

While Secret Lair sets aren’t for everyone, there’s no denying that they add some of the best proxies you can get to Magic: the Gathering. Thanks to an exclusive reveal from IGN, we’re now able to see one of the most hilarious Secret Lair sets in all its glory: The MTG Secret Lair x Monty Python Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 set.

The MTG Secret Lair x Monty Python Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 set is comprised of nine core cards. However, as is usually the case with Secret Lair releases, there are foil and non-foil variants that differ in price to make the sets more approachable for those who can’t afford to purchase every single product. I grew up watching Monty Python movies, so I get a lot of the references in these cards, but I could understand some fans not knowing what they’re about and the set being a lot less appealing because of that.

Below, I’ve listed every card in the MTG Secret Lair x Monty Python Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 set. I’ve included the name of the card each Secret Lair card is based on so you can understand where they fit in the decks you play. As I’ve mentioned, these were exclusively revealed in a collaboration with IGN, but user ShowMeYourGs reposted them as a gallery to the MTG subreddit, where they’re much easier to scroll through.

  • Dismember – ‘Tis But a Scratch!: Target creature gets -5/-5 until end of turn.
  • Ashnod’s Altar – Sir Bedivere’s Scales: An Artifact card. Use it to sacrifice a creature and add two colorless Mana.
  • Birds of Paradise – European Swallow: A 0/1 Creature with Flying. Tap to add one Mana of any color.
  • Dark Depths – Castle of Aaargh: A Legendary Snow Land. Castle of Aaargh enters the battlefield with ten ice counters on it. Spend 3 Mana to remove an ice counter from Castle of Aaargh. When Castle of Aaargh has no ice counters on it, sacrifice it. If you do, create Marit Lage, a legendary 20/20 black Avatar Creature token with Flying and Indestructible.
  • Door to Nothingness – The Bridge of Death: An Artifact card. The Bridge of Death enters the battlefield tapped. Spend two of every type of Mana and tap to Sacrifice The Bridge of Death: Target player loses the game.
  • ThreeVisits – We Want…A SHRUBBERY!: Search your library for a Forest card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
  • Birds of Paradise – African Swallow: A 0/1 Bird Creature with Flying. Tap to add one Mana of any color.
  • Prodigal Sorcerer – Tim the Enchanter: A 1/1 Human Wizard Creature. Tap and Tim the Enchanter deals 1 damage to any target.
  • Buried Alive – Bring Out Your Dead!: A Sorcery. Search your library for up to three Creature cards, put them into your graveyard, then shuffle.

You can pick this Secret Lair set up from the official store when it goes live on July 29, 2024. However, each set will only be available in a limited number, so get your orders in as soon as they go live if you don’t want to miss out.
