All licensed songs – Alan Wake 2 soundtrack

Show me the Champion of Light!

Alan Wake 2 is gorgeous, thrilling, and scary, but you shouldn’t sleep on its soundtrack. There is quite an eclectic array of tunes to enjoy in the game. And if you’re looking for a list of all the licensed songs in the Alan Wake 2 soundtrack, seek no further.

Indeed, the Old Gods of Asgard still got it. But should it be surprising after Alan Wake 2 received the nomination for Best Score/Music from The Game Awards 2023? Probably not, but it’s worth saying. Alan Wake 2 has plenty of awesome tracks, one of which gets presented in a way I’ve never experienced in a video game before.

All the licensed songs to hear in Alan Wake 2

There are 19 licensed songs in Alan Wake 2. You can see the list in its entirety deep into the game’s credits. Most of the tracks come straight from the Old Gods, but there are plenty of others from various artists. Even the Finnish actor Martti Suasalo, who plays Ahti, gets a nod. What? Did you think we’d ignore Ahti and the Janitors? Fat chance.

Who are the Old Gods of Asgard, anyway?

The Old Gods of Asgard is a fictional heavy metal band in the Remedy Universe. They made their debut in the original Alan Wake back in 2010, and since made their way into other Remedy games. The band itself is actually the “alter ego” of the Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall, as explained on their website. They weren’t the ones behind the music heard during the chapter transitions of the game, though. If you want to check those out, you can find the list on Spotify.

But the Old Gods are behind the earworm that is “Herald of Darkness.” You should check out the full music video after you make your way through the game if you have the 10 minutes to spare. It’s worth making the time just to see the real-life actors dance on stage next to Sam Lake.
