The Grasslands region in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is where Chadley will give you the opportunity to gain the summon materia for Titan. You must first beat the deity in the combat simulator. Unfortunately, that’s initially very difficult, but if you find the crystals in the region, it can be made easier.
It may not be impossible to beat Titan at max difficulty, but it’s quite the challenge. But more importantly, there’s no advantage to doing so. Each Titan sanctuary crystal that you find in Grasslands will reduce the fight’s difficulty. There are three in total, and each one drops the challenge a notch. Winning at a lower difficulty doesn’t carry a penalty, however. In fact, it’s sort of the opposite.
Each Titan crystal that you find also powers up the materia. If you beat the monster at its original difficulty, you’ll receive it at 1 star. Then, each sanctuary adds a star, with the maximum being four stars. So, not only do the sanctuaries drop the fight’s difficulty, they also power up the materia.
As I’ve said, there are three of them. Here’s where you find them.
Divine Intel 1: Titan Sanctuary Alpha
This sanctuary sits on the east coast of the grasslands. As you approach the lighthouse in the northeast, you’ll see a glowing crystal at the bottom of a sloping path. If you attack the crystal, it will lead the way to the sanctuary, but there’s really no need. It’s just at the bottom of the path.
At this point, I should tell you how this will work. When you scan the crystal, it will start a mini-game where you have to follow a pattern on a circle. The deity will play a series of notes assigned to buttons. Then it’s your turn. You start the cursor, at which point your visual aid will disappear. You have to repeat the pattern, both in timing and the button that has been pressed. It’s a bit forgiving on the timing, but it’s still not terribly easy.
Divine Intel 2: Titan Sanctuary Beta
If you go through the swamp south of Kalm, you’ll eventually come across a decaying redbrick aqueduct crossing it. Near the western shore, there’s a yellow crystal. If you smack it, a light will show you to a climbable wall. Scale this, and the sanctuary will be along the pathway to the right, not far from the top of the wall.
Divine Intel 3: Titan Sanctuary Gamma
The last sanctuary is south of the Midgar checkpoint. Its location is a bit hard to describe. If you’ve done the quest for Kyrie, you might have already noticed the crystal that will guide the way to the sanctuary. It’s just up the path from the pump station she’s located at.
However, if you didn’t, you can search the wall south of the pipeline. There’s a pathway up a slope that enters a canyon and eventually a cavern. In that cavern is the sanctuary. The location is conspicuous, but may take a small bit of searching.
