Roamer Class

Background: Before the apocalypse, your life was a tough struggle for survival, just as it is now. You have an impressive character, passionate and quick-tempered, although you’re not inclined to hold grudges for long. In the past, you were a roamer and a drunkard, but with the onset of the apocalypse, you set a goal to change your life for the better.

Traits:

  • Enduring: The Weight Capacity skill is increased by 1 level.
  • Perceptive: The Looting skill is increased by 1 level.
  • Hardened: The Automatic Rifle Recoil Control skill is increased by 1 level.

The Roamer seems like the ideal class for those on the more offensive side of things. You’ll want Enduring to be able to hold more loot at once, and Preceptive will increase your efficiency at looting. The Hardened trait gives you better recoil with Automatic Rifles which is a huge offensive bonus.

Pathfinder Class

Background: Before the apocalypse, you led a typical life, worked a regular job, and were known for your kindness and fairness. Possessing intelligence and hidden leadership qualities, you adhered to moral principles. However, there is a dark side to you: your determination and thirst for power can make you act decisively and uncompromisingly, even against your own convictions.

Traits:

  • Charismatic: The Trading skill is increased by 1 level.
  • Resourceful: The Healing skill is increased by 1 level.
  • Cold-blooded: The Sniper Rifle Reload Speed skill is increased by 1 level.

The Pathfinder is a great option for those wanting to take a more support-style role with friends. Charismatic will increase your ability to Trade and get more money for selling things, and a discount for purchases. Resourceful increases the potency of your Healing which is great in a support role to heal yourself and friends. Finally, with Cold-blooded, you’ll want to stay at a distance with Sniper Rifles to make use of the increased reload speed skill.

Ghost Class

Background: Before the apocalypse, the details of your life remained a mystery, hidden from the eyes of those around you. Your character is complex but harmonious: it combines toughness and ruthlessness with a deep-seated sense of justice and kindness. You’ve always been skeptical of authority and laws, and now that the apocalypse has changed the world, you relish the opportunity to act in accordance with your convictions in this new order.

Traits:

  • Resilient: The Stamina skill is increased by 1 level.
  • Tenacious: The Injury Resistance skill is increased by 1 level.
  • Trained: The Automatic Rifle Reload Speed skill is increased by 1 level.

As the Ghost, you will take on a more defensive role. Resilient increases your Stamina which allows you to do more without getting winded. Tenacious on the other hand will allow you to be more resistant to gaining injuries. Finally, Trained increases how fast you reload Automatic Rifles, allowing you to more quickly get back into combat.

That is all classes and starting traits in The Day Before, as well as how we rank each class for gameplay. The Roamer seems like the best jack-of-all-trades style starting class. However, it’s worthwhile to go Pathfinder if you want to take on a more support-style role, or Ghost if you want to be a little more tanky.
