Just under a month after its release,Ā Stalker 2Ā is already making a profit, according to GSC Game World. Upon launch, Stalker 2 was met with positive reviews, and fans have returned in kind by putting the game in the green.
Stalker 2 turns a profit
Stalker 2 was a game 15 years in the making. Its predecessor, Stalker: Call of Pripyat, launched back in 2009, and the series has not been heard from since. Stalker 2 had been met with several delays over the years, exacerbated by the issues faced by Ukrainian developer GSC Game World after Russia’s invasion of the country.
However, according to GSC Game World owner Maxim Krippa, the game has already sold enough copies to sit in the green. Speaking to Forbes UA, he said, “We’ve already sold enough to make the project profitable.” Despite this disclosure, he did not confirm the exact sales figures at this point, only pointing out that, “Of course, it’s tens of millions of dollars.”
The only concrete sales data we have for the game came just two days after its release when it was confirmed thatĀ Stalker 2Ā had already sold a million copies. It’s fair to say that it has far surpassed that number at this point.
It’s also worth remembering that Stalker 2 has achieved its profitable status while only being available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. While nothing about a potential PlayStation 5 port has been revealed, there’s no reason to suggest it can’t eventually arrive on the platform at some point. This could potentially help Stalker 2 become even more profitable in the future.
In the meantime, GSC Game World continues to work on new Stalker 2 patches, including fixes for the controversial A-Life mechanic.
