A Wuthering Waves PS5 port is on the way

Who will hold the gacha crown on PS5?

Those wanting a Genshin Impact alternative on PS5 might be happy to know that Wuthering Waves is heading to the platform in the future. Publisher Kuro Games confirms a PS5 version of Wuthering Waves is in development, and there will be a playable version of the port at ChinaJoy 2024.

“We are excited to announce that the PS5 version of Wuthering Waves is now officially in development,” said the Wuthering Waves X account. “We’ll provide updates on the official launch time of the PS5 version in the future.” A PS4 port, unfortunately, hasn’t been listed, so those on that platform are stuck with Genshin Impact.

On a positive note, the PS5’s ChinaJoy booth from July 23 to July 26 seems exciting for those who can attend the event. In addition to Wuthering Waves, it will feature the promising 3D platformer Astro Bot, the fast-paced action game AI LIMIT, and the upcoming fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. If Wuthering Waves is already playable on PS5, it hopefully shouldn’t take too long for the port to launch. By the way, with this lineup, it’s quite odd that PlayStation’s skipping Gamescom.

Wuthering Waves does seem to be a future highlight, especially for the free-to-play space on PS5. The next update v1.1 includes two new resonators (heroes) Jinhsi and Changli, who are both five-star characters that play a major role in the storyline. There’s also going to be a boss battle with JuĆ©, one of Huanglong’s six Sentinels.

For some, Wuthering Waves arguably has a more evolved combat system and better graphics, so competition between Genshin and Kuro Games’ offering should get interesting when it hits PS5.
