“Zensational?” Really?
505 Games and California-based Pronto Games will be publishing and developing, respectively, The Destiny of Zorro, a Wii exclusive due out at the end of 2007.
Players will make an action-packed journey through the sun-scorched coast and desert landscape of early 1800s Spanish California playing as the infamous Zorro – the swashbuckling defender of the oppressed whose secret identity is the fictional wealthy caballero Don Diego de la Vega. Using the unique properties of the Wii controller, players can whip, slice and of course perform Zorro’s signature ‘Z’ slash move to bring his foes to justice.
Hmmmm, the Wiimote will be used in “innovative new ways” — not like we haven’t heard that before.
More after the jump.

Wii gamers everywhere have been screaming for one-to-one sword controls using the Wiimote since its launch (I like to pretend Red Steel never happened) — could this be the first game to take advantage of that potential?
It would be pretty darn cool to hold your Wiimote like a sword and have every action you perform in 3D space be mapped to the controls in the game. This was partially hinted at in one Wario Ware: Smooth Moves microgame so the potential is definitely there.
To be honest, though, it would be a lot cooler to “make an action-packed journey through the sun-scorched coast and desert landscape of early 1800s Spanish California” as … I don’t know … Ryu Hayabusa or something. Nothing against Zorro, but, well, they call him The Gay Blade for a reason.
Check out some (very early) screenshots we’ve attached to our snazzy gallery.
What do you think? Does this game have potential? Or are you already preparing your “meh” face for when this Wii exclusive finally drops?
