Rest easy: ex-Faith No More singer Mike Patton will be reprising his role as “The Darkness” is 2K’s upcoming The Darkness II. Word comes from Caca Volante, an online resource for Faith No More and Mr. Bungle information that has actually been around since the first web browser was released. Seriously,
Patton, a longtime gamer himself, and has lent his voice to a number of titles, including solid work on Valve’s Left 4 Dead and Portal. He took an unfortunate voice acting turn with Capcom’s Bionic Commando in 2009, growling profanities instead of delivering any meaningful lines.
However, his work on 2007’s The Darkness was a standout, taunting the game’s lead Jackie Estacado at every turn. The Darkness II is scheduled for release later this year; we’ll be seeing the game soon, and will have more details in the coming weeks.
