DAN DA DAN is undeniably one, if not the best, of the best anime series of the Fall 2024 anime season. It’s a whacky mix of comedy, action, and romance, featuring a bunch of cryptids and aliens. But while it gave a remarkable first season, it ended in a criminal cliffhanger. The season leaves the fans hanging at the crux of a new arc — the discovery of a mysterious room in Jiji’s house. Fortunately for fans, however, DAN DA DAN Season 2 is already confirmed.
DAN DA DAN will officially return for a second season in July 2025, just in time for the summer anime season. The announcement came immediately following the season finale, alongside an eerily cool visual. Crunchyroll also announces the streaming availability of the new season on its platform.
About DAN DA DAN
The anime series is adapted from Yukinobu Tatsu’s breakout manga of the same name, serialized in Shonen Jump Plus by Shueisha. Known for its thrilling mix of supernatural horror, sci-fi, and irreverent comedy, the manga quickly gained a dedicated fanbase for its unpredictable storylines and lovable characters.
The renowned Science SARU animation studio brought the series to life. Fuga Yamashiro helmed the project, marking his impressive directorial debut. Kensuke Ushio, who also worked on Chainsaw Man, was responsible for the series’ original music.
For the uninitiated, Crunchyroll describes the story:
“When high schooler Momo, from a family of spirit mediums, first meets her classmate Okarun, an occult geek, they argue—Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. When it turns out both phenomena are real, Momo awakens a hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse. Together, they must challenge the paranormal forces threatening their world.”
