How to find the Giant Turtle in Fortnite Chapter 6

Fortnite’s giant turtle spawns in bodies of water around the map. There are five potential locations where it can appear:

  • Whiffy Wharf
  • Northwest of Lost Lake
  • South of Magic Mosses
  • Southeast of Warrior’s Watch
  • Northeast of Masked Meadows

You’ll also find the giant turtle’s exact spawn locations on the map below.

At these spots are large bodies of water that the turtle can appear at. During each Fortnite match, the turtle will be at one of these five spots, visible from the battle bus as you’re skydiving down, making it easier to strategize where you’ll drop. If you’re looking from above, you’ll see a green circular area with trees, indicating the turtle’s presence.

Help Ryuji free the turtle of Dark Magic Thorns

Once you find the giant turtle, climb up its shell to discover a disturbing truth: there are dark magic thorns growing on its shell, with one lone NPC, Ryuji, trying to clear them away. You’ll need to break these thorns to help the poor turtle out.

The easiest way to break these thorns is to hit it with your pickaxe. However, there are various chests and supplies on the turtle’s back that’ll help you defend against any incoming players if you’re worried of being eliminated partway through the quest.

After clearing away five dark magic thorns, Ryuji and the giant turtle will appreciate your efforts, with Ryuji rewarding you with a blue chest. This rare chest gives you valuable weapons that can give you a significant advantage early on, especially compared to regular treasure chests and floor loot. If you’re keen on strategizing, you can even use this early advantage to snowball your progress and win the match before enjoying a full level-up from completing the Giant Turtle’s secret quest.
