I was a Sega kid, and game creator Yu Suzuki had a lot to do with that. Everything from Outrun to Virtua Fighter had me. Shenmue? Surely. I became a fanboy and even claimed to like that Ferrari arcade game he made. I was lying, of course. It was bad.

The famed game maker says that he’s finally leaving Sega in September. Suzuki told Gamasutra that he will remain on at Sega as an advisor, and that he will continue to work at the studio he created a few years back, YS NET.

“With the new company, I’ve been doing pretty much what I personally want to do myself,” Suzuki added.

The last we heard, Suzuki is working on a Kinect fighting game.
