I’ve book many appointments to see games at E3 this week. Usually, I’ll later get an email confirming the date, time, and location of the game demo. But this one takes the cake — Electronic Arts sent me a speeding ticket.
The cat’s out the bag, if you hadn’t already heard — the publisher will be showing off its next Need for Speed in just a few short days, presumably Burnout developer Criterion’s take on the series. It also may be called Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: Race, as shown during GameTrailers TV‘s “E3 Booth” preview as part of its pre-E3 special.
This speeding ticket also possibly confirms a few more details on the game, as well. It corroborates the “Hot Pursuit” portion of the title, as the game likely features police chases. Secondly, the ticket may also confirm that the title will feature real-life cars — the make and the car I was driving was supposedly a 2009 Bugatti (“Super Car” vehicle type). According to the ever-reliable Wikipedia, the only Bugatti introduced in 2009 was the 16C Galibier concept car, two supercharger, 16 cylinder four-door.
Have we just confirmed the next Need for Speed‘s first car? We’ll find out soon enough; I’ll be checking the game out on Tuesday. Keep your eyes peeled for the first details and impressions early next week.
