Just as I’m finally tearing my way through Yakuza 3 (review coming soon!), Yakuza 4 releases in Japan this week. That’s already enough to make me feel like I’m behind on one of my favorite game franchises. And now we hear that another Yakuza game is in the works?

Famitsu says that a new Yakuza game was annoucned at a presser in Tokyo. They’re calling it “Project K,” and it’s coming from director Toshiro Nagoshi. While it’s still too early to call it Yakuza 5, it’s still another Yakuza, and we’re still running behind!

Famitsu was also nice enough to pass along a write-up of an image trailer shown at the event. From this we know that the next Yakuza is set in Kamurocho again. A young man is seen walking in the rain. The following text appeared on teh screen:

The boy knew it * The graveness of the crimes he continued to commit * But the boy still doesn’t know * The cruel fate that awaits * Also, the boy knows * That fighting is his destiny…

A new challenge for Ryu ga Gotoku starts…

Platform and release date were not mentioned in the presentation. I’m pretty sure we know the target platform already.
