Assassin’s Creed iPhone is not the ‘new episode’ of AC II

In mid-January Ubisoft had us scratching our heads when it announced that a new episode of Assassin’s Creed II, featuring multiplayer, would hit in its 2010-2011 fiscal year. Earlier yesterday, we stroked our scalps raw with the reveal of Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer, an iPhone title. Was this what Ubisoft was talking about?

No, it isn’t. Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, a Ubisoft representative confirmed as much with a simple “Nope,” which is just fine by us. Imagine how our heads would have looked if we were forced to ponder this just a hair longer.
