Renegade Kid, the maker of Dementium: The Ward, was at one point designing a Wii title for Gamecock called Son of the Dragon. It had you playing as Dracula himself, and sounds genuinely interesting. 1UP caught up with the studio to ask why it was canceled and what it was all about.

“The game was canceled because of the development cost versus the less than stellar performance of original mature-themed titles on the Wii,” says co-founder Jools Watsham. “If you release an original mature-themed game on the Wii, even if it’s awesome, you’re going to have a hard time making your money back.”

The setup itself is cool too: Humans “sacrificed six of their own kind to entrap each of [Dracula’s] powers inside a human vessel. Each power was locked inside a young innocent woman, who experienced life in a catatonic state. The young women were separated and hidden in different locations across the land. Each was protected by a formidable guardian.”

I can only speak for myself here, but that’s definitely something I would play. Perhaps Renegade Kid can eventually get Son of the Dragon on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PC.
