Digital downloads are a big part of the industry’s future, and retailers like GameStop know it. This is why the US retailer has launched a new initiative to sell downloadable games and expansions for fun and profit.

It’s a work-in-progress, with only PC games available for download at the moment and Xbox 360 titles coming soon. The store will offer everything from full games to Avatar clothing.

I’m interested to see how this goes, as somebody who still have a European Xbox Live account despite moving to the United States. Most DLC I can’t buy, because I’m not paying for European MS Points, so this may be a nice alternative.

Check out GameStop’s DLC store here.
