Time to get your read on, folks. Small French publisher Pix’n Love (the guys who brought us Pix’n Love Rush) has been putting out books on the history of gaming in France since 2007, and it’s finally decided to sell its work in other countries — and translate it for us, too! Its first step in to lands outside of France is The History of Nintendo: Volume 1, as the ridiculously bad but-in-a-good-way ad above shows. In fact, this might not even be a post if that ad wasn’t so oddly charming.

While Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered the World is hands down one of the greatest books I have read on gaming (let alone Nintendo’s history), it does have a decidedly business slant to it, and is hardly friendly to those who only have a cursory interest in the subject. Thus the bright pictures and what looks to be an easy writing style of The History of Nintendo does appeal to the coffee table book side of me.

Following this first book will be non-French editions of The History of Nintendo: Volume 2 and The Great Personalities of the Gaming Industry: Takahashi Meijin. You can check both out at Pix’n Love’s page, where you can also pre-order The History of Nintendo: Volume 1 for $25 (plus $4 shipping).
