Oddworld Inhabitants’ Lorne Lanning said back in April that plans for future games in the charming and strange Oddworld series have been put on hold. But a Twitter account supposedly penned by series’ protagonist Abe is causing some to speculate that there’s a new game coming sooner than we thought.
The tweets from “Abe” primarily reference Oddworld plot elements which lead up to the events in Abe’s Oddysee. An interaction with a follower specifically mentions “2.5” in response to a fervent and somewhat ambiguous request for “2 Dimensions.” So, that could be something, right? It could be a downloadable addition to the Oddworld franchise in 2.5D, right? RIGHT?
Or it could be marketing aimed at selling the Oddbox collection of the series which has been delayed but is expected to arrive on Steam soon.
Or it could be nothing at all. The still-unconfirmed Twitter account also says that there will be a new Oddworld site in July and we’ve been waiting on that for four years. I’m gong to be cautiously pessimistic on this one and assume that someone is toying with me until Lanning pops up and proves otherwise.
