Lampreys are a surprisingly important fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion. You need it for main story quests like The Company of the Wolf and cooking recipes like lamprey sashimi. Fortunately, obtaining this fish isn’t too challenging if you have the right biomes unlocked.
Where to find Lamprey in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Obtaining lamprey in Disney Dreamlight Valley requires fishing in any Everafter body of water and targeting orange bubble circles. The easiest way is to unlock The Wild Woods for 2,000 Story Magic and check the nearby river for these fishing spots.
Otherwise, you can venture around any Everafter region, including the ponds in Teapot Falls and Beanstalk Marshes’ massive lake, and look for some.
Orange is the rarest form of the three fishing spots that can spawn in the water. While they appear somewhat often, you may have to fish some white and blue spots to get more to respawn, or leave and revisit Everafter later to search for more.
All Lamprey recipes in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Lamprey is a crucial item for progressing through Storybook Vale’s storyline. However, it’s only used in these two cooking recipes:
- Lamprey Sashimi
- Lightning Bolt
Although lamprey sashimi has only one ingredient, Lightning Bolt is a five-star appetizer that uses lamprey, lightning spice, Stygian Mudskippers, and sweets. Stygian Mudskippers are a Mythopia-exclusive fish that spawns in orange fishing circles, while lightning spice is a herb that appears in the same region. “Any sweets” include those in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s base game, A Rift in Time expansion, and Storybook Vale.
The real value of lampreys comes from their use in Snippet Repellents. Below are all three recipes that use them:
- Basic Fall Leaves Snippet Repellent
- Basic Faerie Snippet Repellent
- Basic Olympic Snippet Repellent
Most of these recipes are the exact same, requiring lamprey, star sapphire, and Story Magic. The only differences are their biome-specific items, with The Bind’s needing moss and pine cones. Later on, you’ll need petrified wood and volcanic rock for Everafter’s variant, while Mythopia’s requires marble and gold ingots.
