Even though Gray Zone Warfare has already proved difficult during its launch, it’s about to get a lot more challenging with its Day and Night Cycle. The new feature promises a refreshing take on the game, along with a Night Ops Launch trailer that gives us a sneak peek.
The latest trailer vividly captures the danger that lurks in the night, with visuals shrouded in darkness. I’ve experienced this firsthand in-game, and I can tell you, it’s an intense experience. The realism is so palpable that I’ve often found myself wandering aimlessly, only to be jump scared by an enemy. It’s terrifying, but at least it keeps up with Gray Zone Warfare’s realism aspect.
Fortunately, thanks to the variety of Night Vision Goggles, things won’t always feel so helpless in the dark. The Launch snippet shows how it works, either with a green-phosphor single tube or a white-colored dual type. You can also equip some flashlights for your weapon to help boost your visibility further.
Apart from the night visuals, the Gray Zone Warfare Night Ops Launch trailer showcases a mysterious container at the beginning and end. My guess is that it’s tied to the new tasks, especially the ones that are set for the night. However, the nighttime only lasts one hour, so you’ll need to cram in these missions if you want to try them out.
A full in-game day runs for three real-world hours, two in daylight and the last in darkness. While you’ll spend most of your time deep in the war zone, I suggest stopping and smelling the roses occasionally. The sights can be quite breathtaking to look at. Well, just as long as no enemies are trying to kill you.
Since the challenges are bumped up a notch with this update, there are some new toys to help give you the edge you need in battle. This includes the MP5, Colt M19111, AKS-74U, and many more.
One of the new things I sincerely appreciate with the latest update is the Donation Box and Backup packages. Instead of keeping everything to yourself, you and other players in the faction can share your gear in the Donation Box. The Backup package also provides you with equipment when you have less than $1,000 in your bank, making the game more user-friendly. It certainly beats having to start at square one, which is something I’ve gone through more than enough times.
So, if you’re completely new to the Gray Zone Warfare world, you should jump into the Night Ops update with its more helpful features. Even veteran players can experience a whole new challenge through its expansion of storylines. Whatever the case, make sure you come prepared for the night. You’re going to need all the help you can get to plow through the darkness.
