How to get Volcanic Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Watch out for smoke.

Volcanic Rock is a crafting material in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion that you’ll need for several quests. Although you’ll find it under your foraging collection log list, figuring out where to obtain this particular resource is where the challenge begins.

Where to find Volcanic Rock in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You can find Volcanic Rock in Mythopia and Everafter by digging the ground and clearing fires. Each time you use your shovel to dig up the ground in Everafter, there’s a chance you’ll obtain volcanic rock, among other possible drops like fairy bubbles.

Since fairy bubbles are more common than Volcanic Rock, you may have to dig several holes before you find your first one. Other times, you might get lucky and get multiple batches in a row. Early on in your Storybook Vale adventure, that’ll be your go-to way to get Volcanic Rock until you unlock The Fiery Plains.

As you progress further in the expansion’s story and unlock Mythopia biomes, you’ll eventually reach The Fiery Plains, introducing you to the A Moth to a Flame quest. In this mission, you’ll unlock a watering can upgrade that lets you clear away fire, rewarding you with additional Volcanic Rock. Doing this is much easier than digging in Everafter but requires reaching a mid-game biome.

What is Volcanic Rock used for?

Alongside being a required material in various quests like The Company of the Wolf, you also need Volcanic Rock for several crafting recipes. Below is every crafting recipe that uses this resource:

  • Sea Palace Window
  • Classroom Blackboard
  • Transparent Blooming Teapot
  • Dump Truck Armchair
  • Fountain of Thebes
  • Basic Faerie Snippet Repellent
  • Basic Faerie Leaves Slow Trap
  • Basic Faerie Leaves Lure Trap

Of these recipes, the repellent, slow trap, and lure trap are the most useful you’ll make. They make Snippet-catching much easier, especially later on when these little creatures fly and hop around much faster than their early-game counterparts. However, the decorative items in this list are also a nice addition to your collection log and village decor, so it’s worth checking those out, too.
