Can you blow up an oven in Project Zomboid?

Yes, it’s fully possible to blow up an oven when playing Project Zomboid. Much like real life, stoves are flammable and can catch on fire and explode if you aren’t careful. If you’re trying to blow it up on purpose, however, it’s pretty simple to do.

This is why you should be careful around them when you’re out and about. There are some stoves that could already be on fire, and standing too close can put you in danger of being burned to death.

Whenever an oven explodes, it will be very quick to engulf the entire room in flames, and eventually the entire building. It’s a useful way to start a fire if you need one, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it on purpose except as a last resort when you’re surrounded by hungry zombies. You’ll have a lot more than just a broken window to fix.

How to make a stove explode in Project Zomboid

The easiest way to get any oven to catch on fire and burst in a fiery blaze is to leave food in it for too long to cook. Any food will work to catch the oven on fire, so if you’re looking to cause an explosion, just take any raw food and put it in there. 

Walk up to the oven and take food out from your inventory and put it inside to cook. Luckily, you can use spoiled food too. Fill it up with as much as you’re willing to lose. The more food inside the oven, the better, although you can get the oven to explode with just one piece of food. Bring up the settings for the oven and turn them up to the max temperature and time. This will leave the stove cooking for long enough that it will catch fire.

You’ll need to wait a bit, typically an in-game hour or two, for the stove to catch fire. However, once it does, it can quickly get the entire house up in flames and destroyed. It’s a great way to destroy a building if that’s what you’re looking for.
