How to unlock Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley

By now, we’ve gotten used to befriending various villains in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Despite their plots to rule the world or mess with the main protagonist in their respective stories, our characters have managed to sway them just enough to prevent them from wreaking havoc on the village.

Hades is no exception, as we’ll discover early in The Storybook Vale’s main questline. Here’s how to unlock Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley so you can befriend another villain and witness his interactions with others.

How to unlock Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You’ll unlock Hades after completing the Guts and Glory main story quest. When you first open The Elysian Fields in Mythopia, you’ll begin the A Land of Myths and Legends quest to help you discover a Mythic Trial before tackling the Guts and Glory mission.

Throughout this quest, you’ll meet Hades for the first time and help him navigate a cart of jugs across a dungeon. Although the puzzle itself isn’t too tricky, you’ll need to become adept at using your Royal Net to open various doors, activate bridges, and push the cart across a magical transport beam.

Once you complete Elysian Fields’ Mythic Trial and clear the source of corruption, you’ll have one last conversation with Hades before he asks to move into your Storybook Vale village. After placing his house and paying Scrooge McDuck the hefty 10,000 Star Coin fee, Hades will move into Dreamlight Valley, ready for you to befriend.

Guts and Glory quest guide

Guts and Glory begins immediately after entering The Elysian Fields’ Mythic Trial gate. Although this differs from Everafter’s trials, the idea is the same. Your goal is to clear the corruption from Mythopia to move one step closer to resolving the feud between Maleficent and Hades.

Once you enter the trial and meet Hades, you’ll quickly learn his goal: get a cart of jugs from one end of the trial to the other. They’ll travel along a beam and move as you interact with it, but various doors and platforms are blocking your way — nothing your trusty Royal Net can’t handle, though.

For the most part, this trial involves pulling levers and activating golden wheels with your net to open doors. It isn’t too tricky, but a few key points can mess you up if you’re not prepared for them.

At first, you’ll only have a few levers to pull to push the cart through each door. You may run into some curveballs, like having to fish out part of a bridge or finding partially hidden golden wheels. Fortunately, this one is mostly straightforward.

Once you complete the trial, Hades will be thoroughly impressed with your skill and ask to move into Dreamlight Valley. Place his Underworld house down anywhere in the Storybook Vale and pay Scrooge the 10,000 coin cost to officially welcome Hades into the village, completing Guts and Glory along the way.
