How to defeat Mimics in Fields of Mistria

Don't be fooled by the Mimics!

You’ve probably heard about the Mimic monsters if you’re a big Dungeons and Dragons fan. They’re known for their trickster ways, disguising themselves as a chest to lure you in for a treat. Fields of Mistria’s Mimics functions similarly, but fortunately, there is a way to defeat it.

Here’s how to eliminate the Mimic and collect its rewards in Fields of Mistria.

How to get rewards from a Mimic in Fields of Mistria

You can find Mimics deep in the caves of Mistria, typically after the Mine’s Level 15. They’ll look like any standard chest, just without a lock (it will move, too). To defeat it without getting hurt, you must throw a meal at it by pressing the ‘G’ button. Ensure not to press Interact, as it will cause the Mimic to attack you.

Based on my experience, any meal seems to work, whether you’ve cooked it up yourself or purchased one at the restaurant or shop. Approach the Mimic with the recipe on hand and throw it, resulting in the creature eating it shortly after. It will then spit out valuable rewards, including gold, artifacts, and other resources. The first time I defeated the Mimic, it gave me the Scrap Metal Chestpiece, but it will always change up depending on your playthrough.

You may receive higher-valued rewards when progressing further into the Mines. Higher levels will require various seals, including Water and Earth, allowing you to pass Levels 20 and 40.

If you don’t have a meal to defeat the Mimic, you can press the Interact button to collect a few coins. Although you’ll get hurt by its attacks this way, it’ll at least offer you some money. Mine monsters, in general, also have a rare chance to drop new cosmetics for your collection. Plus, the latest Ritual Chamber rooms offer even more collectibles.

Besides Fields of Mistria’s Mimic, you may encounter the new Essence Bat. Watch out for its damaging sonic wave, and try to take it down using a sword. If you kill it, it will drop a Monster Wing or Essence Drop, which is used in various crafting recipes.
